Warrington Male Voice Choir At St Oswald's

The choir performed during Mass at St. Oswald's RC Church, Padgate, Warrington, on 29th May 2009.  The occasion was a happy and very special one attended by senior clergy, including the Archbishop of Liverpool, the Most Reverend Patrick Kelly, to mark fifty years since the ordination of Father Charles Canning.

The choir was delighted to receive the invitation to sing during the service because Father Canning has been a keen fan of the choir for a number of years.  After the service, clergy, congregation and choristers repaired to St Oswald's Social Club for another short performance by the choir and some excellent refreshment.  Choristers would like to record their thanks and appreciation of the welcome that they received from Father Canning and the parishioners of St Oswald's.

Some photos below give some idea of the fun that was had, especially when Father Canning was pressed into service as a chorister for a short performance.

The choir get going with items from their current repertoire ...

... and then, Father Canning is pressed into service.  He seemed reluctant, at first,

... but after some encouragement from Russell ...

... joined in enthusiastically with "You'll Never Walk Alone" from Carousel.  The fact that Father Canning is also a keen Liverpool FC supporter may have have had something to do with the desire he showed for this particular piece.
