On Monday 27th June, we surprised one of our members with ‘Honorary Life Membership’ to the choir. Jim Mainwaring recently had to give up singing with the choir due to ill health. A decision he fought hard against having to do. However Jim and his wife Eileen still come to all our concerts and are huge supporters of us. Eileen is our greatest supporter and sells the most tickets for our concerts. So upset was Jim at having to leave the choir last year that he still wanted to pay his subs this year even though he was no longer a member!!! Jim has even had a couple of stints as Treasurer in the past which those of you who also do this job for your organisation know it’s not an easy task!
Anyway our Musical Director Russell Paterson and Chairman Bob Williams presented Jim with a signed picture of the choir and he was also given his cheque back for his subs. Eileen is a very happy lady.
Jim is pictured here with Russell and Bob along with his pal and co Honorary Life Member Geoff Higham who has been with the choir for over 61 years!
Apologies for poor photo quality but our regular official choir photographer was absent that night!!
