The Parr Hall September Concerts 2006

Report by Steve Grant, WMVC Press Officer

Choir and Band conducted by Russell Paterson on Friday.

WMVC completed another successful weekend at the Parr Hall on 22nd and 23rd September, 2006.  All the traditional razzamatazz that has come to be expected from a "traditional Last Night", ....... but this year. .... with an interesting twist.

Friday night's concert featured the musical talents of Wingates Band, for a special "Brass Night".

Saturday's promenaders saw the more traditional format, this time, with the Liverpool Mozart Orchestra, specially augmented for the evening to enable a more robust presentation.

The Choir was also joined by Eryl Prytherch (contralto) of “Cheshire Chord”, (left) who led the audience in “Rule Britannia”.

The Choir & Band have found that they “work” as a combination. After producing the long awaited joint CD “Sounding Voices -  Sounding Brass”, which went on sale for the first time in Warrington this weekend, they will be together this coming weekend for a concert in the Isle of Man. The show, in aid of the Royal National Lifeboat Institute,  and entitled “For Those In Peril”, will be hosted by Scottish singing star : Moira Anderson. The Band’s “Autumn Proms” will take place on 21st October at Bolton’s Victoria Hall with WMVC as guests.
