Following the Warrington bombings of 1993, Warrington Male Voice Choir was one of a number of organisations recognised as playing a lead role in working to build peace and reconciliation with the people of the island of Ireland – helping to build a fresh spirit of harmony, in its case, principally, through music. The Choir continues those efforts today, and is planning to return to Belfast and Dublin next year to celebrate the progress ten years on from the signing of the Good Friday Agreement.

It is appropriate, therefore, that the Choir should add its support to the United Nations International Day of Peace – an annual day of global ceasefire and non-violence – and encourage you to join them in an evening of music and song, in a spirit of harmony and peace, especially during these difficult and challenging times, both at home and overseas.

Please book early as tickets are expected to be in great demand.

PEACE ONE DAY

In September 2001, a United Nations General Assembly resolution (55/282) put forward by the United Kingdom and Costa Rican governments, was unanimously adopted by all 192 UN member states, formally establishing an annual day of global ceasefire and non-violence on the UN International Day of Peace, fixed in the calendar on 21st September.  All sections of society are asked to honour and celebrate the Day each year.  The vision of the Day, however, extends far beyond the cessation of violent conflict, and represents an opportunity for individuals and nations to join in a moment of global unity.

Peace One Day is a non profit organisation with the objective of raising global awareness and observance of ’World Peace Day’: the annual United Nations International Day of Peace.

"If you build a house you start with one brick.

If we want to build peace why not start with one day…

and that day has arrived."
