This concert was the first of 2007 for the choir, and greatly enjoyed by choir and audience. Russell informed the audience that much of the repertoire performed by the choir would be also performed in our Montreal tour taking place later this year. This included the beautiful Agnus Dei composed by the choir's very own accompanist, Anthony Whittaker. The bass part of this work is split into two, in certain passages, and because of an unavoidable shortage of basses to sing the top line during this particular evening's performance, Anthony found himself having to "fill in". The web administrator, to name one, at least, found it disconcerting to have the composer stand behind him for the performance. Was he listening out for dubious notes? The audience were treated to solos by Reg Clarke and Geoff Higham, with a special St Patrick's Day blessing from Patrick McGuirk. The solo highlight came from Russell Paterson, himself, with a rendition (to loud groans from the choir) of the Road to Mandalay, but much appreciated by the audience.
